Dice or Craps
As is the case with many other casino games, the exact history of the game of Craps is rather cloudy. Dice however, date back to ancient times. There are those that believe that the game of Craps was begun by Roman soldiers, while others believe that it has evolved from the game Hazard, which is named after the Arabic "az-zahr", meaning dice. Others maintain that it started as an English game, the name of which was changed to "crabs" by the French, which in turn was amended to Craps by the Americans. Craps/Dice has become well-known as a thrilling casino game. Often the noisiest table in a fun casino will be a Craps game.
An important feature to note when playing Craps is that the dice must be rolled against a backboard, in order to prevent cheating. Players take it in turn to roll the dice after the other players have placed their bets around the table. There are picture bets and single number bets. All have different odds that are marked on the table cloth. If a throw adds up to a seven then the house wins and another player rolls the dice. Players can also bet on seven coming up at reduced odds. Great fun and very noisy! Our version is simplified from the Casino version, but just as fun to play.
